Besan Chilla Recipe (Besan cheela recipe)

Gram Flour Pancakes can be said to be a pancake made from gram flour, it can be a good and nutritious option in the morning breakfast. Besan chilla (Besan cheela recipe) is very easy to make, you can prepare it in about 25-30 minutes. I am showing you how to make Traditional Besan chilla Recipe.

In this recipe, you can make gram flour batter tasty by adding asafoetida, green chillies, onions, tomatoes and green coriander or other herbs.

Ingredients of Besan Chilla

Besan (Gram flour)     1 cup (200 grams)

Water                          200 milliliter

Red onion                    01 (Big sized)- finely chopped

Tomato                        01 finely chopped

Ginger                         1/2 inch piece  (grated)

Green chilies               4-5 chopped

Asafoetida                   01 pinch

Red chilli powder        1/2  tsp

Oil for frying               01 tbsp

Salt                              as needed

Prepare the batter

1. First prepare the batter, for the batter, take out 1 cup of gram flour in a big bowl.

 2. Slowly add water to the bowl and mix the batter well till the lumps are gone,

3.  Now add your chopped vegetables and herbs to it. Add all the finely chopped ingredients, otherwise, it will be difficult to spread it on the griddle.

4. Now cover the batter and leave it for 10-15 minutes. Remove the lid and see if the batter is too thick then add water.

Besan chilla Recipe

1. Now place the griddle over the gas and heat it, when it becomes hot, spread a spoonful of oil on the pan.

2. Pour 2 spoons of batter on the griddle and spread it in a circular motion with a spoon. Spread some oil on the chilla as well.

3.Turn the flame to medium and fry till it turns brown by pressing with a spatula. When one side turns brown, then turn the chilla over and cook.

 4. Now your besan chilla is ready, transfer it to paper towels and serve hot with green chutney, red chutney or tomato ketchup.

Suggestion

  • You can add vegetables to make besan chilla nutritious.
  • If you cook besan chilla in a non stick griddle then it will not stick.
  • You can also add 2 teaspoons of semolina to make Chilla crispy.
