Tomato chutney Recipe with garlic and ginger | Tamatar chutney

Ingredients for Tomato Chutney

Tomato                               5-6 medium size

Ginger piece                     1 inch (chopped)

Garlic cloves                     4-5 (crushed)

Curry leaves                      7-8

Rai (Mustard seeds)          01 tsp

Red chili powder               04 tsp

Black pepper powder        1/4 tsp

Sugar                                 01 tsp

White Vinegar                   01 tsp

Salt                                    as per taste

Oil                                     1 tbsp (for frying)

Preparation of chutney

  • First wash the tomatoes with water and cut them into small pieces.
  • Cut the garlic and ginger into fine pieces and keep aside. You can crush garlic cloves.

How to make Tomato chutney recipe

  • Now put oil in a frying pan and heat it, when the oil becomes hot, add mustard seeds and when mustard seeds start spluttering, add curry leaves, garlic and grated ginger and fry.
  • After roasting for about 1 minute, add chopped tomatoes and mix well.
  • Roast it while stirring and prepare a thick paste.
  • Now add red chili powder, powdered black pepper, sugar and salt according to the above mentioned quantity and stir well.
  • Add vinegar to it and mix.
  • Roast it well and soften the tomatoes.
  • Now your tomato chutney is ready.

  •  If you want to make smooth chutney, then after it cools down, put it in a mixer grinder and your smooth tomato chutney is ready.
  • Keep this chutney in the refrigerator and eat it for 3 to 4 days.

Serving Method

You can serve tomato chutney with dosa, idli, vada, pakora, naan, paratha or with food.

 Suggestion

  • If you like less sweet, then you can make chutney without sugar.
  • Make sure to stir the chopped tomatoes in between while making the chutney.
  • Use curry leaves in chutney tempering, it will taste better.
  • You can fry tomatoes with mustard even after grinding them first.
